The website of The John W. Doorly Trust is absolutely freely accessible. Neither registration and/or a log-in process are required.

The content is freely accessible and can be retrieved without registration or log-in.

If you order books, brochures or other materials, your data will be collected by Paypal, the payment provider for The John W. Doorly Trust and your address and contact data (including your email address) will be passed on to The John W. Doorly Trust so that your payment can be verified and your order mailed to you.

Neither is there any contact form. However, you can always contact us by email. In this case your email address will be stored so that we are able to respond to your enquiry.

Processing of data (customer and contract data)

Payment service providers and resellers PayPal

Among other options, we offer payment via PayPal on our website. The provider of this payment processing service is PayPal (Europe) S.à.r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg (hereinafter referred to as “PayPal”).

If you choose payment via PayPal, we will share the payment information you enter with PayPal.

The website of The John W Doorly Trust, registered charity no. 1006077, includes a non-commercial, non-profit online bookstore for the sole purpose of keeping in print and publication, and making available, the publications and media of The John W. Doorly Trust for educational and study purposes.

Using the online bookstore you can purchase publications and recordings of talks; the entire business and payment
transaction process is handled by our payment provider PayPal. See our Cookies Policy and Privacy Policy for further details.

Prices are clearly shown, and postage will be added during the ordering process on the PayPal website.

All orders for our publications and media are subject to availability and we reserve the right to refuse to supply any individual or company.

We want you to be happy with your order and so offer you a right to cancel your order and return the product in the circumstances detailed below.

You have a statutory right to cancel your order by notifying us within 7 working days of receiving your goods.

If you receive damaged products or the wrong product is sent to you in error, you should notify us as soon as possible. A positive solution will be found and a replacement or full refund will be provided.

If you want to cancel your order, package the relevant item securely and return the same to us. For your protection, we recommend that you use a recorded-delivery service. Until the products are returned to us, you must not use them and must take reasonable care of them and ensure that they are returned to us in a re-saleable condition.

Definitions

“Charity” means The John W. Doorly Trust, a registered charity no. 1006077

“GDPR” means the General Data Protection Regulation.

“Responsible Person” means Claudia Towers & Peter Rosenthal.

Data protection principles

The Charity is committed to processing data in accordance with its responsibilities under the GDPR.
Article 5 of the GDPR requires that personal data shall be:

kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed; personal data may be stored for longer periods insofar as the personal data will be processed solely for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes subject to implementation of the appropriate technical and organisational measures required by the GDPR in order to safeguard the rights and freedoms of individuals; and

General provisions

This policy applies to all personal data processed by the Charity.

Lawful, fair and transparent processing

To ensure its processing of data is lawful, fair and transparent, the Charity shall review its data flows annually.

The Charity does not collect and retain any personal data for any purpose other than making the print and media publications it offers accessible to users.

For the sale of its books and other media, the Charity uses Paypal as a payment provider and D’Avray Web Design as a web space provider. See Privacy Policy for more details.

Access to the website is free and does not require any registration.

There is no contact form; however, users can write to The Charity by email, and in so doing actively consent to the Charity storing their email addresses in order to respond to their enquiries. See Privacy Policy for more details.

Individuals have the right to access their personal data and any such requests made to the charity shall be dealt with in a timely manner. See Privacy Policy for more details.

Lawful purposes

All data processed by the charity must be done on one of the following lawful bases: consent, contract, legal obligation, vital interests, public task or legitimate interests.

Where consent is relied upon as a lawful basis for processing data, evidence of opt-in consent shall be kept with the personal data.

Data minimisation

The Charity shall ensure that personal data are adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.

Accuracy

The Charity shall take reasonable steps to ensure personal data is accurate. Where necessary for the lawful basis on which data is processed, steps shall be put in place to ensure that personal data is kept up to date.

Archiving / removal

To ensure that personal data is kept for no longer than necessary, the Charity shall put in place an archiving policy for each area in which personal data is processed and review this process annually.

The archiving policy shall consider what data should/must be retained, for how long, and why.

The Charity shall ensure that personal data is stored securely using modern software that is kept-up-to-date.

Access to personal data shall be limited to personnel who need access and appropriate security should be in place to avoid unauthorised sharing of information. When personal data is deleted this should be done safely such that the data is irrecoverable.

Breach

In the event of a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data, the Charity shall promptly assess the risk to people’s rights and freedoms and if appropriate report this breach to the ICO.
